Donka jumping hurdles in the community

Engaging the community to support people with disabilities is a huge part of Donka’s mission. Each person we educate about the capabilities and determination of individuals with disabilities helps our students jump another hurdle on the path to living their best life.

In the spirit of awareness, Donka is sharing just a few ways we are currently engaging our community in support of our training programs and in spreading the word about how to help individuals with disabilities succeed.

Race for Abilities 2019 - Donka’s 3rd Annual Race for Abilities will take place in Naperville on October 20th. As part of a larger event, the Healthy Driven Naperville Half Marathon and 5K, Donka is one of many area organizations raising dollars to support charitable activities in the DuPage area.

Illinois Assistive Technology Statewide Conference 2019

Donka has been invited to conduct a workshop at September’s conference.

This year's theme is "Discover the Possibilities” and focuses on using assistive technology in education, employment, and community living to enhance the independence of persons with disabilities.

Donka is honored to be part of the field of experts presenting at this event. These experiences help expand our community of supporters throughout Illinois.

Workforce Initiative Opportunity Act (WIOA) approval

In January, Donka was approved by the Illinois Workforce Innovations Board (IWIB) to provide computer training to WIOA-approved partners and job-seeking clients. Donka’s training programs and services will be part of a statewide provider list accessible to organizations and professionals working with individuals with disabilities, as well as to those individuals seeking services. This approval increases Donka’s opportunities for future enrollments and referrals for services.
